Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. (Hebrews 10:5-7)

Did you know there were two bodies prepared for Jesus on earth?
The first was His physical body. Theologians call the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us the incarnation of Jesus. God prepared a body for Jesus in Mary’s womb for Him to become the Word made flesh. However, this wasn’t the only body that was prepared for Jesus.
The other body that was prepared for Jesus is the body of Christ to which every believer belongs. It’s important to remember that both His physical body and the spiritual body (the church) were prepared for Jesus.
The Father prepared a physical body for Jesus so He could move, work, minister, and ultimately die on the cross for our sins. In the same way, the church, a gathering of believers who have died to sin and are alive in Christ, is here to move, work, and minister God’s will on the earth. We are the hands and feet of the body of Christ as we touch humanity and do Kingdom business.
The purpose of Christ’s incarnate body was to do God’s will.
The purpose of the Church, the body of Christ, is to do God’s will.
Practical Application
As a part of the body of Christ, you are called to pray for your fellow believers so the body of Christ can accomplish God’s will. Pray for your church and for those you know in the body of Christ in positions of authority.
