And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. (Isaiah 11:1-4)

Centuries before He was a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and laid in an animal's feeding trough, Isaiah saw Him as the Branch. Not just a prophet or a King or teacher. He would operate differently from any other human leader. In fact, Isaiah 11 describes the sevenfold Spirit that would manifest in Jesus’ leadership qualities.

First, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Him (the Spirit upon is for gifts, miracles, manifestations of power and might). Second is wisdom and understanding (not just comprehension, but insight and clarity regarding the knowledge provided). Next, we see counsel and might (this refers to strategy and power). Then there is knowledge (meaning an awareness of what is happening in the world), and the fear of the Lord (or a deep reverence for God and the things of God).

Isaiah explained His way of judging by saying that He “shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek…” The Hebrew word for equity means evenness, uprightness, and fairness. God doesn’t show favoritism. If someone is blessed, you can be blessed too. If someone found favor, so can you. Isaiah went on to explain that Jesus “shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears…”

Practical Application

Don’t fall into the comparison trap when someone else is blessed, and you’re still believing for your manifestation. If you see someone else winning, celebrate with them and then ask yourself, “What part of God’s operating system are they using that I need to start walking in?”
