Meeting Together is Vital

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)

“Why do you go to church so often?” Has anyone posed that question to you? Viewing church life as a fundamental part of our existence seems odd to those around us, especially in a world that is self-centered and driven by pride. Nevertheless, the gathering of believers has always been central to the life and mission of the Church. We don’t just come together for fellowship but for strength, encouragement, and support during life’s challenging moments. The assembly of believers isn’t solely about tradition—it’s about empowerment. It’s where we sharpen one another, uplift each other, and remind each other of the hope we have in Christ.

That’s why the devil hates the local church so much. He will use his power to silence the church or limit its influence; he always has. Whether through cultural pressures or legal restrictions, the enemy seeks to close the doors of the church. But as believers, we’re called to stand firm and support the efforts that the church God has called us to is doing. The church is not just a building—it’s a spiritual force.

When others say, “Close the doors,” we respond, “No, the doors of God’s house will remain open!” Why? Because the Church is the light of the world, the hope for the nations, and the place where the Bible is taught and preached. As the Church, we’re not passive observers of the world’s chaos. We have been given authority in Christ to bind and loose, call down strongholds, and release heaven's power on earth. When the Church gathers, we pray, worship, and declare God’s authority over principalities and powers. We call upon angels to work on our behalf and ask God for wisdom for our next steps.

Practical Application

Gathering is vital to our purpose as the body of Christ. Make it a priority to assemble with other believers. Attend church on Sunday, encourage your pastor as you meet, and thank them for leading your local body.
