And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

When God gives you orders, it’s important to pay attention and obey them.
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gave last instructions to His followers. He explained what we are called to do and how to do it.
Jesus first explained that all power is given unto me and followed that statement with go ye therefore. Why did He do this? To let us know He was passing His authority to us. He was passing His power to us so that we can do the tasks Jesus gave us.
What are those tasks?
First, we are to teach all nations. The word nations in the Greek means ethnicities. We are to teach people about Jesus, even if they don’t look like us or have the same background. We are called to embrace others with the love of Jesus and look for opportunities to teach them God’s Word.
Next, we are to be baptizing them. What is significant about this? Baptism is a public display of your inner faith. In baptism, believers publicly affirm their faith within a community. When someone is baptized, they declare their old life dead as they go down in the water and their new life in Christ as they rise out of it.
Last, Jesus said, teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Jesus was talking about discipleship. He told us to walk with other believers, helping them to grow in their relationship with Jesus, and to learn to apply God’s Word to everyday situations.
Practical Application
Go out and build God’s family. Look for opportunities to teach, to invite people into your church, and to help them with instruction from God’s Word.
