There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. (John 3:1-7)

Your potential is enormous. If you are born again, you should be living in a way that the Old Testament saints only dreamed of. Jesus told Nicodemus that born-again people perceive realities that others cannot. You can’t understand Kingdom truths until you’ve been recreated. Nicodemus was skilled at understanding religion, but he couldn't grasp the reality of the Spirit.

As a born-again believer, you have the potential for a greater ministry than any of the Old Testament prophets. They had the Holy Spirit on them to perform miracles, but you have the Holy Spirit on you and within you. They had the scrolls, but you have the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit.

The new birth didn’t turn you into a different version of your old self. Being born again made you a completely new creation, made by the Spirit and living under greater promises.

Your potential exceeds any Old Testament believer.

Practical Application

Recognize that your potential exceeds that of any Old Testament figure. Thank God for the Holy Spirit's ministry, and choose to live in harmony with the Holy Spirit's guidance so you can experience miracles, signs, and wonders in your daily life.

Ephesians 4:24; Job 15:14
