Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:20-23)
Jesus is the Head of the church; we are the body of Christ. As members of His body, we also share in His authority and power. Jesus is far above all principalities, powers, and demonic forces on this earth. Paul explained to the church in Ephesus that God had placed all things under His feet. If something is under His feet, it is also under ours as His body.
His authority is meant to flow through us as we continue to fulfill His mission on earth.
He did not defeat death, hell, and the grave so that believers could sit passively and barely get by here on earth. The reason Jesus sat down at the right hand of the Father was because there was nothing left for Him to do, as He had given all of His authority to us.
Jesus is not worried about what’s happening in the world. He sits in victory, and He expects the church to walk in the same level of victory. When you understand who you are in Christ, it changes how you handle problems, how you pray, and how you stand against the enemy.
Practical Application
Remember that you carry the authority of Jesus into every situation. So don't see yourself on defense or under attack. See yourself on offense with the enemy under your feet.
John 1:16; Ephesians 3:19
