And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15)

What did Paul mean by using the phrase he hath quickened? The word quickened means to be made alive. But that's only a part of the story. In Christ, you have not simply been changed from dead to alive, but from dead as one creature to alive with the power of Christ working in and through you as a new creature. When you give your life to Christ, you’re not just redecorated. You are recreated! Colossians 2:13-15 explains the transformative power for all those who believe in Jesus after He rose from the dead.
When Satan thought he took Jesus out, Jesus turned the tables on him. Scripture tells us Jesus threw off principalities and threw off powers. He made an open show of their defeat.
Jesus beat Satan and his cohorts down so horribly that you don’t hear about him for several chapters in the book of Acts. When those demons got back on their feet, they realized they didn't just have one anointed man to deal with. One hundred and twenty men and women came out of the upper room in Jerusalem like Jesus, with the Holy Spirit upon them. Today, believers have the same Spirit, the same Word, and the same anointing as Jesus. Those believers on the Day of Pentecost had the same ability, and it frightened the devil. A few days later, there were 3,120 of them and more and more after that. They were equipped to live the quickened life as new creations in Christ who shared the Good News with power!
Practical Application
We have been equipped to live the quickened life. What does that look like? Jesus forgave us our trespasses, and the quickened life enables us to forgive quickly. Jesus triumphed over every demonic force and quickened us to live in the same victory and authority.
