Why Jesus Operated Differently

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. (John 3:34)
Jesus didn’t operate under the same limitations as we do. Although He faced all the same temptations and walked in the same flesh-and-blood body, He carried an anointing that you and I cannot carry individually. Jesus had the Spirit without “measure.” The Greek word for “measure” is metron, which means “a limited portion, a restricted amount, or a defined boundary.” Scripture doesn’t say He had an extra-large measure or more than we can understand. The Word tells us that there were no limits, no boundaries, and no restrictions on the fullness of the Spirit Jesus possessed. He carried unlimited potential and power in every circumstance and every moment. That unlimited power explains His ministry rhythm as well. Jesus never lacked direction; He knew exactly where the disciples needed to go next. He was always Spirit-led, regardless of what others might say or how they might attack Him.
In just three years of ministry on earth, He accomplished everything necessary to secure salvation, teach us how to live a life of faith, and establish a church that would change the world. He was able to achieve these incredible feats because there was never anything lacking in the spiritual realm for Jesus. This matters because when you study His life, you need to realize you aren’t simply learning a historical story. You are exploring the blueprint of what it means to be full of the Spirit, fully anointed, and empowered as a child of God.
Practical Application
Don’t compare your anointing to Jesus’, as you are not called to be Jesus. Instead, compare your lifestyle to His. Remember that Jesus came so He could empower you to live a Spirit-led life. The same miracles, signs, and wonders He performed are now available to you through delegated authority and anointing. Be led by the Spirit, stay faithful, and step out in faith by following His lead.
John 3:17; Luke 4:18
