In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour. (Titus 1:2-3)

In our fast-paced, microwave ridden world, waiting for anything can be difficult. We want things done quickly and efficiently with as little wait time as possible. We may even feel that waiting is a waste of time. But in the Bible, waiting is often necessary for God to prepare you for what He has prepared for you.

Paul, the writer of this letter to one of his sons in the faith, Titus, had learned this lesson firsthand. He had been given many assignments from the Holy Spirit, but he had also learned that just because God told him to do something didn't mean he was to do it immediately. Sometimes God wants us to pray, prepare, or pause before acting. He wants us to trust in His timing, not our own ability to decipher what makes sense.

Sometimes when we receive a Word from the Lord, we act quickly and tell everyone what we think. Often, believers feel that if they don't act right away, they will miss their chance at what God wanted. Waiting on God's timing is crucial. It allows us to mature in faith, to learn patience, and to grow closer to God. He may want you to move immediately, but He may not. God's timing is not always easy to understand. It may take weeks, months, or even years for a plan He spoke to come to fruition. But we can trust that His timing is perfect.

Use your waiting time to pray. Seek to understand more perfectly what He is saying to you. Take that time to prepare for the work He has called you to do. When you feel rushed, learn to pause and pray. Ask the Lord if it is the right time to act or if He wants you to wait.

Remember that waiting on God's timing is not a waste of time. It is an opportunity to grow closer to Him and to trust in His perfect plan for our lives.

Practical Application

When you feel stressed about rushing or stepping out on a dream or a concept God has given to you, learn to take a deep breath, pause, and pray. Then listen for what God says. It may not be right now, and that’s okay. God knows His timing. Follow His peace.
