And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. (Luke 4:13)
In the fourth chapter of Luke, the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to confront the enemy. The Father knew Jesus could overcome temptation and defeat the enemy at every front. If you feel like you are following God but still being attacked, it’s because God knows that you can defeat the devil, and the devil fears your potential.
Satan challenged Jesus with several different temptations, trying to lure Him into using His power to fulfill the lust of the flesh by turning stones into bread. Then the devil tried to tempt Him into throwing Himself from the pinnacle of the temple for the lust of the eyes (how those worshipping would see Him) and worshiping Satan to attain worldly kingdoms, which was the pride of life.
Each time the enemy brought a genuine temptation, Jesus answered with the Word of God. If you have the Word memorized and prepared for moments of temptation, you will win in victory every single time.
Now, after Jesus responded to each temptation, it says the devil departed from him for a season. You must know that temptations are temporary. All temptations have a beginning and an end. This current challenge or temptation you are facing will not last forever.
The Bible says that Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit after the temptation. Dunamis, the Greek word for power, reveals that Jesus had more extraordinary supernatural ability and strength. On the other side of temptation is tremendous power.
