For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21)

Jesus was teaching about matters of the heart and explained that our treasure and our heart are connected like links in a chain. What is treasure? It’s where you keep your money, your savings, and your investments. You can learn a lot about a person’s motives and what they value by what they invest in. Living with kingdom power means investing in kingdom priorities.

The way you manage your finances shows your faith. If you choose comfort over your calling, it reveals where your heart truly lies.

Giving to kingdom purposes isn’t about paying dues or gaining favor with God. It’s about living a life that is fully surrendered to Him. When you give sacrificially, you’re expressing trust in God and relying on His wisdom, not your own. However, it is also true that when you prioritize Kingdom values, you gain access to Kingdom resources. The generous person will be enriched. Giving isn’t losing; it’s planting seeds and sowing, expecting a harvest to return.

You can’t separate treasure from the heart. The two will always move together. Choose to invest in Kingdom purposes and see how it will affect every area of your life.

Practical Application

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you examine your spending habits and giving practices. Is there a change you need to make to show that Kingdom is the highest priority in your life? If so, make an adjustment and commit this week. Be led and sow.
