When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. (Acts 1:6-7)

The disciples' question reflected their desire for Jesus to establish a worldly kingdom, an earthly power that would restore Israel to its former glory. But Jesus redirected their focus, reminding them that the times and seasons were not for them to know. Instead, He emphasized the importance of receiving power from on high, the Holy Spirit, who would empower them to fulfill their divine calling. Too often, we become consumed with knowing the future, seeking answers to our questions about God's plans for our lives or the world. We may seek to understand every detail and timeline, hoping for a glimpse into what lies ahead. However, Jesus' response challenges us to shift our focus from seeking information to trusting God's perfect timing.

God sees the grand tapestry of His plan, weaving together the threads of our lives and others to the ultimate end of this age. Although we want immediate answers, God calls us to walk by faith and trust in His divine providence. He invites us to surrender our need for control and embrace His perfect timing.

Remember that God’s plan to fulfill the end of this age extends not only to the grand events of rulers and nations, but also to the intricate details of our lives. We may not always understand His timing, but we can know that He is in control. We can find comfort in knowing that His plans are perfect, and as we follow Him, His purposes will be accomplished.

Practical Application

Don’t be so consumed about knowing the future, instead focus on cultivating a deep relationship with God, seeking His guidance, and obeying His Word. In the process, you will discover that your faith is not built on certainty about what lies ahead, but on the unshakable foundation of God's character and His promises.
