The Seed That Crushed the Serpent

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)
There was a reason Jesus talked to His followers about Lucifer’s fall. It’s not meant to scare you or to persuade you to follow God instead. It’s to reveal His origins and give you a revelation of the authority you have over the enemy.
When Adam and Eve fell, God spoke to the serpent and prophesied the entire Gospel in one sentence. He said the seed of the woman will bruise your head, and you will bruise His heel.
A heel bruise hurts, but it’s not fatal; it’s not permanent. A crushed head signifies that the creature is finished. It’s over. From the beginning, God was declaring, “I am sending One through the woman who will completely break your authority. There will be no power left for the enemy.”
When Jesus was born of a virgin, it indicated that He was not carrying Adam’s sinful, fallen nature because His origin was supernatural. He came as a man, but a man did not produce Him. That’s why the virgin birth is essential in our theology. It was the only way to have a sinless Savior.
When Christmas comes around every year, remember that it is not just sentimental. It’s warfare. It’s the promised Seed, Jesus, entering the earth to crush the serpent’s authority once and for all. Heaven sent an eviction notice to hell in the form of a baby.
Practical Application
Every morning when you wake up this week, say out loud, “In Jesus’ name, I have authority over all the power of the enemy.” Then, if symptoms, fear, or oppression appear, do not negotiate with them. Command them to flee.
Mark 16:17; Luke 9:1
