And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:19-23)

Ephesians 1:19 says Jesus’ exceeding greatness of power is to us. Stop for a moment and consider the enormity of Paul’s prayer. He prayed we would comprehend God’s power in us. The more we understand it, the more we can flow in it. The greatness of God’s power is available to everyone who believes in Jesus!

Paul explained that this power first manifested when he raised him from the dead. Wow! Inside every believer is the power that defeated death!

Because of this power, Jesus is far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named. Jesus is far above all demonic and spiritual powers and natural authorities or power holders on earth. No matter how powerful you think a ruler or authority is on this earth, the power of God supersedes and stands above them!

Paul then explained something that many believers miss. He wrote that walking in the power of Christ is not just something for this current world we are living in, but also in that which is to come. A new heaven and new earth are coming one day, and you and I will have positions of authority assigned to us there. How you walk in your inheritance now determines what position you will have in the next world.

Practical Application

Jesus died to give you power and authority. Look for opportunities to use your inheritance now and set up what God has prepared for you later. You have the authority to rule and reign over every power of darkness in this world!
