Mercy Made it Available, Faith Made it Personal

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. (Acts 26:18)

God’s mercy doesn’t stop at forgiving you; it grants you access to a relationship with Him. You must receive by faith what mercy has made available. Satan wants you to strive, work hard, and try to be good enough to gain faith, constantly reminding you of your past and failures. Condemnation is a faith drain. We have all made mistakes and messed up.

Once we ask God for forgiveness, He doesn’t just forgive us; He forgives us to such an extent that the past problem no longer exists. The Bible says that God tosses it as far as the east is from the west. What does that mean? The east can never meet the west; they are entirely opposite. If you try to bring up your past issue to God, you’ll hear Him say, “What are you talking about?” Because Jesus’ blood didn’t partially wash you from sin, it thoroughly and fully cleansed you. Jesus’ sacrifice took care of it. So, stop honoring what God already buried by bringing it up.

His mercy has thrown the door wide open, and your faith enters into all of God's promises without apology. You have been given access to all of God's promises. Walk in the light and release your past.

Practical Application

Refuse to dwell on memories God has already cleansed and cared for. You have received His mercy, so walk in faith, not condemnation. If you continue to struggle with feelings of condemnation, create a faith declaration about your identity. Speak it daily over yourself and declare what God says about who you are.

1 Peter 2:9; Luke 24:47
