Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (John 16:13)
Jesus referred to the Holy Spirit several times as the Spirit of Truth to emphasize that the Holy Spirit knows more than you do. However, He wants to guide and direct you based on His truth, not yours. Today's world continues to talk about “personal truths,” but that’s not logical. Truth is truth and cannot be changed.
The Holy Spirit speaks for the Father and the Son and is always willing to declare what He has heard from the throne room of heaven. The most significant guidance most people need is differentiating between what makes sense to their natural minds, what feels good to their emotions, and God’s will. God’s will often doesn’t feel pleasing to our flesh, and sometimes it makes no sense in our minds, but hearing and following the Lord should be priority number one.
This is true for your business, family, finances, and all life matters. One fundamental way the Holy Spirit ministers to us is by showing us things to come so He can prepare us for the path before us and guide us into making wise decisions.
This is why Christians need to communicate with the Holy Spirit and pray in the Spirit daily. When you pray in the Holy Spirit, you become more sensitive to His guidance, and your heart is more tuned to His voice. Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit may be the difference between life and death, but it certainly will mean the difference between success and defeat.
Practical Application
How much time do you give to praying in the Holy Spirit daily? Make it a point to practice praying in tongues and listen to what the Holy Spirit places on your heart. Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is vital for success.
