The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. (John 1:29-33)

What an amazing revelation John the Baptist had about Jesus! It wasn’t simply that Jesus was an excellent teacher or a profound theologian. Jesus was a perfect human being, but He is much more than that! He is the divine Son of God, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

John saw the Holy Spirit descend upon Jesus in the same likeness or manner as a dove. From that moment on, the grace of God covered Jesus, and He began His public ministry.

The grace of God has many meanings in the New Testament, but to boil it down, grace is the ministry and manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. His grace empowers us to live life in the supernatural power of God. In the Greek, the word dunamis is used to refer to this powerful display. It is the miracle working, blessing giving, amazing phenomena ability of God that rests upon the believer. The dunamis power of God is something Satan and all his demons cannot handle.

God wants us to walk in revelation, but also manifestation.

We are not called simply to walk in knowledge, but also with power.

Practical Application

Expect the supernatural power of God to manifest in your interactions and conversations this week. Don’t just tell someone you’ll pray for them to be healed, ask if you can lay hands on them and expect them healed. Give the Holy Spirit room to operate in your life.
