I have shewed you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)

God wants you to live the blessed life. However, the blessed life is not just one where you alone receive the benefits. The blessed life is one that allows the blessings of God to flow through you to others.

The Greek word for blessed is makarios and means fortunate and well off.

God doesn’t practice purposeless prosperity. God’s increase is attracted to your life when you are committed to give to God’s kingdom purposes.

Most Christians are in error because they think the local church is there to serve them, their needs, and their purposes. But they’ve got it backwards. The church is first and foremost called to be a giving station.

Giving, of course, is first done with your finances, ensuring that there is meat (or provision) in the Lord’s house to accomplish what He wants to do on the earth. But giving also has to do with your time and your talents. The church should be a priority in your calendar. You have talents, abilities, and anointing that your local body needs. Seek to give rather than to receive.

Practical Application

You are called to give first and receive second. How are you actively giving of your time, your treasure, and your talents to see God’s purposes done in the church?Make a commitment to be a part of the giving station that God has set you in.

Acts 3:3; Psalm 96:8
