Praise Because He Heard You

I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. (Psalm 118:21)
Praise does not start when the answer arrives. Praise begins when faith is convinced that God has heard us. Did you know that God hears your prayers? He spends time listening to your individual prayers. If your prayer is rooted in faith, it’s a prayer of praise! Many believers pray as if they hope heaven is listening. But true believers pray with confidence knowing that heaven is already attentive.
1 John 5:14, in the New Testament, confirms that God hears you. It says: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”
The word “salvation” in Psalm 118:21 includes forgiveness of sin but also much more. The Hebrew concept of salvation encompasses deliverance, rescue, healing, provision, preservation, and victory. The psalmist doesn’t praise God simply because He brought salvation. Instead, he states that God Himself is the answer. God is the salvation. See, praise stops questioning how God will do it and begins declaring who God is. When praise fills your mouth, fear loses its grip. You know that God hears you. Your praise confirms your faith because God is your salvation right now. Not later, not maybe, but now.
Practical Application
If you’ve already prayed about something, you should stand in agreement that God has heard you and praise Him before you see the answer. Praise is the proper response for someone who is in faith about what they have prayed.
Psalm 116:1; Psalm 118:14
