Supply Comes from the Source

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

God’s plan is to supply, but He wants to be the source. Paul didn’t write “from your job,” “from your talent,” or “from your city council.” God supplies it according to His riches in glory. The Greek word for “according to” is “kata,” which means “down from” or “in alignment with.” God’s supply is not random. It’s not just that it comes from Heaven, but it is supplied when you are following Heaven’s ways. God will always provide on time when we are living life on mission. We often look for provisions from paychecks, check the stock market, or hope that luck shines on us.

Some people even go to the casino hoping for easy money or engage in slick, quick business deals that promise shortcuts (that aren’t legal), but what do those compromises cost you? You lose the anointing and provision of the Lord. I remember when the casino arrived in Detroit, promising “jobs and prosperity,” and its supporters voted for it. What was the real outcome? It was addiction, bankruptcies, and a city that gambled away its future. What happened? It traded God’s Rule Book to make a quick buck.

Don’t rely on luck or gamble on chance; trust in God’s covenant. Don’t pursue what the world claims is gain; seek God’s glory. The world bets on luck, but the righteous live by faith.

Practical Application

If a deal arises that conflicts with the Word, it is not God’s provision. Refuse to participate in or support anything that contradicts God’s way.

Psalm 23:1; Proverbs 3:10
