He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (Psalm 91:1-4)

Dwelling actually means taking up residence, not just visiting on Sundays. There’s a place of habitation in God where headlines' problems can’t reach and where fear propaganda can’t touch. David calls it the secret place; in Hebrew, the word is 'seter,' meaning “a hiding, a covering, or a shelter.” The secret place isn't a physical home, cave, or castle; it’s the atmosphere of a relationship with Him.

It isn’t a place you visit randomly. The secret place of the Most High is an environment where you intentionally stay aware of His presence, fully focused on Him. Praying in tongues is the key that opens the door to that secret place. When believers pray in their Heavenly language, they’re not just speaking mysteries; they’re establishing protection. Each morning, when you spend time praying in the Spirit, you re-enter your safe place of protection.

Speaking the Word and praying in the Spirit work together to strengthen your life against the unseen attacks of the enemy. God has a plan to deliver you from every deadly snare and pestilence, but you must come into agreement with Him. Speaking in tongues aligns you with and proclaims His perfect will for your life.

Practical Application

Remember to start your day by speaking in tongues. Before checking your phone, watching the news, or stepping out the door, pray in tongues. When you notice you're feeling anxious, easily distracted, or quick to anger, it often means you’ve stepped outside the covering. Re-enter through praying in the Spirit.

Psalm 31:20; Psalm 32:7
