And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation; And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's. (2 Chronicles 20:13-15)

Judah did not run from the enemy or scramble for safety. They stood before the Lord, a posture of reverence, readiness, and trust. Notice who was present: men, women, and children. Faith was modeled publicly and generationally. What looked like a national crisis became a teaching moment for families. How we respond under pressure shapes the faith of those watching us. Then, the Holy Spirit moved by coming upon Jahaziel. His word began with “hearken,” meaning listen carefully. When fear is loud, discernment is vital. God declared, “The battle is not yours, but Mine.” Many believers are exhausted because they are fighting battles God never assigned them to fight. Anxiety increases when we take responsibility for outcomes God has already claimed as His own. The principle applies to us today as well.

For example, there was a time when our church was believing for a building. Yet, on the final day, we were still $30,000 short. Time had run out, and provision was unseen. Instead of panicking, I chose to praise God intentionally and openly before there was proof. That same day, a man who had visited our church only once called and said the Lord told him to ask how much we needed. He immediately covered the full amount. Judah did the same thing in 1 Chronicles 20. They praised before deliverance, not after the enemy fled, but when all they had was a Word from God. When God says the battle is His, our responsibility is worship, obedience, and trust. Praise reminds us, and the enemy, who is truly in control.

Practical Application

Your response to pressured moments teaches your family and those close to you about how to trust God. Praise when you don’t see how He will move. When fear tries to shout, it is then that faith speaks loudest.
