God Wants Your Time

The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29)
God is not hiding His will from you. He wants you to walk in His will more than you do. But wanting it and being positioned to receive it are two different things, and the difference between them almost always comes down to one word: Time.God is not like a man. Men tend to want things quickly and straightforwardly. They want: here is the information, here is the plan, and here is what you do next. God does not typically operate that way. He requires time, patience, and that you stay in His presence long enough to actually hear what He is saying, rather than just long enough to ask your question and leave.
When I was trying to understand God’s will for this church, I spent weeks and weeks in prayer, seeking God's will before the breakthrough finally came. It took weeks; it was not an afternoon or a few days. Weeks of praying before the Lord made it plain. God wants your attention the same way a wife seeks it from her husband.
When I was newly married, I would spend Sunday evenings watching football. One day, in the fourth quarter, the game was on the line. My young wife walked in and stood right in front of the television. And here she was, blocking the screen. I wanted her to move, but what she was really asking, without saying a word, was a simple question: “Who matters more to you right now, me or this game?” She was asking for time, attention, and for me to put down what I was occupied with and be present with her.
God will do the same thing. He will position Himself between you and whatever is consuming your attention and ask you the same question. Who matters more? And the answer He is looking for is not just a feeling or a verbal declaration. It is shown by whether you will actually stop, turn off the noise, and give Him the time He is asking for.
Practical Application
The secret things belong to God. He decides what gets revealed and when. He reveals the things He has chosen to reveal to people who have pressed in long enough to receive them.
Proverbs 25:2; Romans 11:33
