And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. (Romans 1:28)

In Romans 1:28, Paul explained that when we choose to reject God and His knowledge, we open ourselves up to danger. The verse states that God gives us over to a reprobate mind.
The word reprobate in the Greek is adokimos. It means an unapproved, rejected, worthless mind that lacks judgment. When people sin and continue to sin, they reject God and His wisdom. As people say no to God, the darker they get until they get to a place where they can no longer help themselves. Romans 1:28 states that they will do those things which are not convenient, meaning they will engage in actions that are not in line with God's will, and that can ultimately lead to destruction.
What does it mean to retain God in our knowledge? To retain something is to hold on to it, to keep it close and make it a part of our understanding and thinking. In this context, it means to acknowledge and accept God and His authority. When we choose to reject God’s ways, we turn away from His protection, wisdom, guidance, and blessing.
Take a moment to reflect on your life and actions. Are you retaining God in your knowledge, or have you turned away from Him? Are you engaging in actions that are not in line with His will? If so, turn back to God and ask for His forgiveness and guidance.
Practical Application
Take time today to reflect on your relationship with God. Are you retaining Him in your knowledge? Are there any areas of your life where you have turned away from His will? Ask God for forgiveness and guidance and make a commitment to keep Him in your knowledge. Then, live under His will.
