Rebellion Against God

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Romans 6:16)

Hell was not made for mankind; it was created for Lucifer in his rebellion. When Lucifer challenged the King and sought God’s throne for himself, he sealed his fate. Now he will forever burn because of that rebellion.

If you stand with a rebel, you share in the rebel's fate. You don’t need to wear horns or have a soiled tail to rebel against God. All you need to do is believe your way is better than God’s. Hell wasn’t made for you, but your rebellion can lead you there.

Paul was telling the churches in Rome that you can claim to be a believer, but it ultimately depends on who you serve when temptation comes. Who do you yield to?

Paul was very clear in what he wrote. You either serve sin or serve God, but there is no middle ground. Many believers believe that righteousness is just doing the right things, but that’s only part of it. Righteousness is being in right standing with God, being on God’s side, even when it’s unpopular and even when your flesh wants to side with the enemy.

There are only two systems on this earth: the System of Darkness and the Kingdom of God. You are either aligning with the King, or you are choosing rebellion. The good news is that the Father has always provided a way for you to return to the Kingdom, even if you have strayed. Decide to follow the Kingdom and experience its righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Practical Application

Rebellion against God usually doesn’t show up as demonic. More often, it looks like self-idolatry: focusing on what you want instead of God’s will. Ask the Holy Spirit today to reveal areas where you aren’t fully yielding to God, and choose to make a change.
