And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. (Romans 8:23)

As Christians, we know that life on earth is not all there is. Our hope and expectation are based on the promise of eternal life God gives us. We know one day we will exchange these bodies of flesh and blood for a glorified body.
Paul lets us know that while we are still in this physical form, we will experience physical and emotional groaning as we navigate this life. Aches, difficulties, challenges will come, but we can find hope in knowing that our ultimate redemption is on the way!
God did not create us to merely exist in this world; we have a greater purpose and destiny in Christ. As we wait for our heavenly home, we are called to live with purpose and direction as ambassadors of the Kingdom. Living as a part of the royal family of Heaven means embracing the supernatural power God has given to us and being a vessel of His love and healing to those around us.
We should walk in faith, not in fear, knowing that our real citizenship and authority come from the throne room of Heaven. That means we can expect to see the same miraculous works of God that we read in the Bible because we have access to the same Holy Spirit who anointed the apostles and disciples of the early church.
Our lives should reflect expectation, and miraculous demonstrations of Heaven’s Kingdom.
Practical Application
The realization that believers are the first fruits of the Spirit should cause you to live with purpose every day of your life. This means embracing the supernatural power of God and being a vessel of His love, His power, and His healing to those around us. How can you walk in the supernatural power of God today?
