Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord. (2 Peter 1:2)

Peter often used the words ‘grace and peace’ as salutations in his letters. God wants His children to live and increase in grace and peace.

The word grace is charis and the word peace is eirine in Greek. It means contentment, serenity, and satisfaction. The well-known Hebrew word for peace is shalom. It means health, prosperity, and happiness; nothing missing and nothing broken.

Not only does God want you to increase in grace (the manifestation of the Holy Spirit in your life), He also wants you to increase in serenity, security, and contentment throughout your life.

God’s peace is evidenced when the storms of life blow, but and we remain unshaken.

His peace is shown when chaos surrounds us, but we stay calm.

God doesn’t just want grace and peace to increase in small, subtle ways. His desire is that grace and peace be multiplied in your life.

You are called to grow and have more grace and more peace upon you.

How is this grace and peace multiplied? Peter told us it is through the knowledge of God.

The Greek word for knowledge is epignosis. The first definition of epignosis is recognition.

When we recognize God and recognize Jesus in our lives, we can exponentially increase in grace and peace.

If you are constantly speaking the Word and talking about God to others, you will regularly recognize what God has done, is doing, and is planning to do in the future for you and through you!

Practical Application – Take time to recognize and thank God today. See how He protects you, how He has blessed you and how He plans to use you in the future. Your recognition of God’s presence sets you up for a multiplication of grace and peace.

2 Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 1:3
