And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink. Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days. And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat. Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse. (Daniel 1:10-16)
Faith isn’t just a theory; it’s a fact. The Bible describes it as substance. If faith is the substance of things hoped for, then it can be demonstrated. Daniel didn’t demand, argue, or rebel against authority. Instead, he asked for a way to prove that God will do what He said.
Genuine faith doesn’t fear the results; it expects God to remain faithful to His Word every time.
At the end of 10 days, they were checked to see if God’s way proved effective. They were found stronger and better-looking than all of the other servants who had eaten the king’s choice diet. The truth is: obeying God’s Word will bring abundance into your life, not just in eternity, but often in practical, visible ways.
Practical Application
What has the Holy Spirit placed on your heart to try? Maybe it’s taking a step of faith in a financial habit. Could it be that the Holy Spirit has put on your heart to follow Him in a dietary choice? Or perhaps it involves your relationships? Trust God and believe in His Word. His ways are always better than ours.
