God Reveals the Secret Things

Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure. Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret. Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon. Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king. (Daniel 2:45-49)

All the wise men of Babylon were at risk of being executed by the king. When none of the others knew what to do or say, Daniel turned to God and then bravely stepped forward to share the revelation God had placed in his heart. God had faithfully revealed the hidden mystery of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream to His servant, Daniel. Although he knew more than others, he didn’t act superior; he spoke with humility and honor, relying on spiritual wisdom and insight. He didn’t gain this wisdom from school or his intelligence, but through his dependence on God.

When God’s wisdom was revealed, the king himself fell on his face and acknowledged God in that moment. A pagan king in a pagan nation had to recognize that the God Daniel served was the only one who could reveal secrets.

Daniel was then rewarded with a position of honor, wealth, and blessings. But what did Daniel do first? He remembered his fellow believers who prayed with him and stood with him, and they also received positions of honor. Remember those who stand in faith with you and honor them when the promotion, blessings, and honor come your way.

Practical Application

God reveals secrets when you seek Him. What do you need to know?

Deuteronomy 10:17; Daniel 2:22
