Gaius mine host, and of the whole church, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlain of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother. (Romans 16:23)
Erastus was the city treasurer of Corinth. As a major city on the trade route with a canal that moved goods from the east to the west, many people found their way into Corinth.

As the city's treasurer, Erastus received tolls and taxes for the city and paid all the public expenses.
Public officials were expected to pay for civic improvements such as new roads, buildings, and infrastructure from their personal wealth in those days. Unlike many today, the people in the Apostle Paul’s time were not lifetime politicians; they had already been successful in business and believed they could help by being involved in local government. They were not paid for their service; instead, they paid to be a service to their city. So, you can see what type of person Erastus was.
When Erastus heard about Jesus, he became a partner in Paul’s ministry.
God always uses people with unique gifts, talents, and experience to help accomplish His plan for an area and a season.
Paul could not have reached the entire Gentile world with his own strength, talents, and abilities alone. God sent men and women, like Erastus, to support and serve.
Eventually, we know that Erastus traveled to Thessalonica and Macedonia – approximately 188 miles – on foot to assist the ministry. Although he was a successful businessman with a government position, he was willing to follow God and help Paul.
God has called professional people to help take the Gospel throughout the world.
Perhaps the reason for their professional success is because God has anointed them to fund the Gospel!
Practical Application – Have you thought about what ministries God wants you to sow into? Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the needs you are called to help fulfill and obey His leading.
Romans 16:23; 2 Timothy 4:20
