Death in Disobedience

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. (Genesis 3:6-7)
One decision. That was all it took. Eve saw, desired, took, and ate. Adam stood right there and did nothing to stop her, then joined her. In that moment, something entered the earth that God never designed, never intended, and never wanted for His creation—Death.
Now, when most people hear the word death, they think of a funeral, a casket, or an ending. But death in Scripture is a whole system. It encompasses everything Satan carries—sickness, fear, lack, torment, mental oppression, decay, confusion, broken relationships—everything that makes life feel like it is falling apart. That is the system of death that entered through one act of disobedience. It is not what God originally spoke into existence. Instead, it is a creation living under the weight of man's rebellion.
But this is where the story takes a new turn. God didn't leave it there. He never does.
Jesus didn't just show up to process forgiveness like some kind of transaction. He said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” and He meant it in the fullest sense. He came to tear down the entire system that Adam's single bad decision established and to reverse the curse from the inside out. Death came through a man, one choice, and one act of disobedience. And life came back the same way, through a man, one choice, and perfect obedience all the way to the cross. If you have received Christ, you are no longer under the control of that death system. You don’t have to accept what it brings as normal. You don’t have to tolerate sickness as your portion, lack as your fate, or fear as your permanent home. You have been given the authority and the covenant right to stand against it. Death entered through words and disobedience. Life is received through faith and confession. Adam opened the door. Jesus is the way out.
Practical Application
Speak healing over your body. Speak provision over your finances. Speak peace over your mind. Do not let the curse speak louder than the covenant.
