He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. (Psalm 18:48)
David wrote these words from the perspective of a man who saw God rescue him from real enemies, not metaphors. I mean, real men with weapons were after him. Evil isn’t just a fairy tale concept. We live in an age that diagnoses everything through psychology, but almost nothing spiritually. When you hear of tragedy where someone full of hate attacks a school, a church, a bus, or a college campus, this isn’t just human depravity; it is a demonically influenced strategy to steal, kill, and destroy.
Evil is not random; it is strategic, and only spiritual discernment can protect you from those kinds of attacks.Deliverance, however, doesn’t come from coincidence; it comes from immediate obedience. When God tells you to go, you go. When God tells you to speak, obey immediately. When the Holy Spirit warns you, His purpose is not to make you afraid; it’s to make you aware of the enemy’s plans. But if you aren’t willing to follow His direction when He tells you, the protection cannot be achieved. Discernment without obedience is simply disarmed power.
The Holy Spirit doesn’t want you just to feel something; He wants you to act on it by saying or doing something. Obedience to the Holy Spirit may make you look crazy to the world around you, until they see the results of the protection.
When God instructs you to speak, move, or warn, you might encounter doubt and disbelief from others. But when life or death hangs in the balance, your reputation in the eyes of others becomes irrelevant.Every revival, every miracle, every miraculous rescue has one thing in common: someone heard the Holy Spirit’s whisper and obeyed immediately.
Practical Application
Each morning, pray: “Holy Spirit, help me recognize Your voice and respond without hesitation.” Sensitivity is your first line of defense. When you sense a warning, pause and ask the Holy Spirit to confirm it with you. He never leads by fear, but He will alert you to pay attention in moments, and you will be delivered in real time.
Psalm 7:16; Psalm 86:14
