And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:46-49)
How are you building your life?

Jesus used an illustration of two men in Luke 6:46-49 who were building a house. In Biblical days, the word house meant family or life. One man built his life on a solid foundation, and the other on sand. The house built on the rock survived the inevitable storms of life. Do you know how to build a solid life on the rock? Attending church occasionally won’t do it. Simply believing in Jesus doesn’t do it either.
Jesus defined what it means to have your life built on the rock in verse 47 when He said, he who heareth my sayings, and doeth them.
Heareth and doeth indicate ongoing activity. So, those who regularly hear the Word and do what it says will stand solid when the floods crash into their lives.
No matter what the devil brings, if we continue to hear the Word daily by reading it, speaking it, and doing what it says, we will stand tall, even in the worst storms.
Practical Application – Make the Word of God the foundation for your life. It is a rock that will never fail!
Matthew 16:18; Matthew 7:24
