Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:14-17)

In the battle against the forces of darkness, we are not defenseless. God has provided us with spiritual armor to withstand the attacks of the enemy. Just as a soldier prepares for battle, we too must equip ourselves with the divine weapons available to us. Today, let's delve into the powerful imagery found in Ephesians 6:14-17 and discover how we can be victorious in our spiritual warfare.

First, we have the belt of truth, which represents the importance of living a life founded on God's truth and walking in integrity.

Next, we have the breastplate of righteousness. This piece guards our hearts and protects us from the attacks on our character and motives. Living a righteous life, empowered by the Holy Spirit, shields us from the enemy's accusations.

Our feet are fitted with the preparation of bringing the Gospel. As believers, we are called to spread the message of faith to those around us.

The shield of faith is vital as it provides a barrier against the fiery arrows of doubt, fear, and temptation. The helmet of salvation is our assurance of eternal life and our identity as children of God. Wearing this helmet, we guard our minds against the enemy's attempts to sow his thoughts and words into your mind.

Finally, we possess the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. This powerful weapon enables us to counter every assault of the enemy with the truth of Scripture. Just as Jesus defeated Satan in the wilderness by speaking the Word, we too can overcome the enemy's schemes by wielding the Word of God.

Practical Application

When the Word is spoken, Satan runs. He is afraid of the power of the Word!

Isaiah 59:17; Hebrews 4:12
