All You Need

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:2-4)

Peace. It’s a word that seems almost elusive in our modern vernacular. Many in our world yearn for serenity and seek it through any means necessary except the one place we can truly find lasting peace — through a relationship with and a knowledge of God. Peter said grace and peace could be multiplied in our life. That’s good news for many people. He said it happens through the knowledge of God. The Greek word through is en, which is a preposition that literally means a fixed position.

To have an exponential amount of grace and peace, we must start with a fixed position of knowing God. The Greek word used for knowing is epignosis. It refers to a precise, complete knowledge of God and His Son, Jesus Christ.

When we study Scripture to know Him more, we can expect multiplication. One way we can understand His character is through the different names of God that are used in Scripture. Jehovah Shalom describes God as the Lord is our peace. Jehovah Tsidkenu is the Lord our righteousness. Jehovah Jireh is the Lord who provides. The more we understand Who He is, the easier it is to find multiplied peace in a storm.

Peter also said that God’s power will give us all things that pertain to life and godliness. Now, let me ask you a question: what is left after all? Nothing! Knowing Who God is and what He promises is an essential part of receiving all you need!

Practical Application

Study the names of God and then apply that knowledge to what you are believing for. Perhaps you should write these names of God down and thank Him for being all those things that He is in His Redemptive Names.
