Your Children Are Coming Back

And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. (Isaiah 54:13)

More people are losing it emotionally, spiritually, and mentally today than perhaps at any other point in recent history. You can see it everywhere you look. Young people, especially, are carrying levels of confusion, hopelessness, and instability that should not belong to people so early in life. But here is something that should encourage every praying parent and grandparent who is a believer.

Many of them are finding their way back to the Word, not because someone forced them, but because they are finally hungry enough for something real. And the declarations we make over our own children and grandchildren matter more than we often realize. Isaiah wrote this prophecy that “all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy children.”

That is not wishful thinking. That is a covenant declaration from God. Also, notice he did not say most of them will; not some of them, but all of them will be taught of the Lord. And the peace that follows is described as “great,” meaning it is significant and substantial. It is the kind of peace that holds in a world that does everything it can to rob young people of stability.

There is something powerful about a believing parent or grandparent who refuses to speak defeat over their family.  They are the ones who get up every morning and says, “My children are coming back to the Word. My teenagers are coming to the Lord. My grandchildren are not lost.” They are doing this not because the circumstances say that; sometimes they say the exact opposite. But rather they do it because the Word says it, and the Word is the foundation we build on.

Young people are not too young for the Word. If they can read, if they can operate a phone with a skill that puts most adults to shame, they can understand Scripture. They can grasp what God says. They need to be given it consistently, warmly, and by adults who actually believe it themselves.

Practical Application

Today, speak the promise of Isaiah 54:13 out loud over every child and young person in your life by name. Do not wait until you see evidence of it. Speak it because God said it.
