You Have Keys

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19)

Jesus said He gave us the "keys" to the Kingdom. What are keys for? They symbolize authority, access, and ownership. A locked door is no barrier to the one holding the key. The Church is not meant to be built on religious traditions, but on revelation and the authority we have in His name.

Notice that Jesus talked about us having keys (plural), not just one key. The first key to unlocking the Heavenly realm in our world is using the name of Jesus. The Greek word for "name" is onoma, which means "His authority and character." We are to operate in His authority on Earth.

The key of faith has five cuts that fit perfectly into the Kingdom’s doors. Those cuts are hearing (Romans 10:17), receiving (James 1:21), believing (Mark 11:24), speaking (Mark 11:23), and acting on God’s Word (James 1:22). When you combine all these cuts on the key of faith, it becomes a master key of Kingdom authority that we can use to bring Heaven into every situation.

Scripture states that we are given the keys to bind and to loose. To bind means to restrain, put in handcuffs, or stop from functioning. To loose is to release, permit, or unlock what Heaven has already decreed. Some believe this refers to Heaven, but even Jesus clarifies that's not the case. Since there are no demons in Heaven, what would you bind?

Practical Application

Don't overcomplicate spiritual warfare. You don't need to know a demon's name or where they came from. You need to speak the name of Jesus out of a realization of your authority. Say it, and watch the demon forces leave.

Matthew 18:18; John 20:23
