But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. (1 John 2:20)
John reminded believers of something vital to understand. You have an unction. The Greek word for “unction” is chrisma, which means a smearing or endowment. This is not reserved only for Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists, Prophets, and church leaders. This message is for the entire church. Every believer has received the unction from the Holy Spirit.
This “unction" is not about knowing everything intellectually. It’s about having spiritual awareness. The Holy Ghost teaches you. He guides you into truth. He gives discernment. He warns you when something is wrong. He confirms what is right. The “unction” is the Holy Spirit confirming His truth on the inside. Truth resonates. Error causes unrest. You are not meant to guess your way through life. Divine insight is available to you. When you pray in the Spirit and stay in the Word, the anointing is more evident in your actions and results.
Jesus operated this way. The same anointing that empowered Him empowers you. That’s why believers can lay hands on the sick and see recovery. The anointing is the enabling presence of God within.
Practical Application
Make a list of areas in your life where you need God's power to move. Then declare over each one, "The anointing of the Holy Ghost is in me. I have an unction from Him to know all things.” Listen to how He would lead you and follow His wisdom. Believe you carry what you need.
