That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10)

The children of Israel couldn't do what you can because Jesus hadn’t come yet. The blood hadn’t been shed. They believed God for what was coming, and He honored that faith. But they couldn’t be born again because there was nothing yet to be born into.

You live on the other side of the cross and the resurrection. Romans 10:9-10 states that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you are saved. The word 'saved' is soteria, which means delivered, healed, made whole, protected, and preserved. That is the whole package of salvation.

When you were saved and received what Jesus accomplished, something happened inside you that never happened to anyone in the Old Testament. You became a new creature. Your spirit was reborn. You are not a patched-up version of your old self; you are a brand new creation.

Moreover, the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, came to dwell within that new creation. You are not alone in your body; God is in there with you. This changes everything about your life, your health, your victory, and your future.

You are not who you used to be. Act like it.

Practical Application

If the enemy tries to remind you of your past or your old nature, remind him of your new one. You are a new creature in Christ Jesus. The old is gone. Declare it today and refuse to identify with who you were before the blood changed everything.

2 Corinthians 4:13; Proverbs 18:21
