Where Miracles are an Expectation, not an Exception

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. (Jude 1:20)

I hope you don’t place all of your expectations on the pastor to minister in powerful, anointed words, signs, and wonders every Sunday, because a supernatural church includes everyone, including you! If you want to be part of a church where the gifts of the Spirit flow freely and miracles are not an exception but an expectation, you play a role. Jesus is coming back for a church that is without spot or blemish, a community of people who manifest His power. We will witness deaf ears opening, wheelchairs emptying, voices restored, and bodies healed because of the power of God in and upon us.

You must participate if that is what you want. Don’t just point fingers at your pastor, the worship team, or the ushers. The entire church should be stirred up in their most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Praying in tongues develops your spirit, just as lifting weights develops your body. When you pray in tongues, you also pray God’s perfect will. How do you know what God wants to do this Sunday in your church? You can pray for general things, such as protection for the congregation, a fresh anointing for the pastor, and unity among the volunteers. However, one of the best ways to discern how God wants to move by His Spirit is to pray in tongues. Notice that spiritual gifts weren’t given only to pastors, but to the body of Christ. Paul wrote that God set some in the church (1 Corinthians 12:28).

So, if you want to see a move of the Spirit in your church services, you need to pray in tongues the week before, on your way to church, and even very quietly under your breath (not loud enough to be heard by your neighbor) while the pastor preaches.

Practical Application

If you want to see miracles, pray in the Spirit to stir up the gift within you, your pastor, and those in the congregation so they can receive it. Miracles should be an expectation, not an exception.

Ephesians 6:18; Romans 8:26
