And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:19-23)

In Ephesians 1:19-23, the Apostle Paul used lofty and awe-inspiring words to describe the magnitude of God's power that is available to us. He began by using the term exceeding greatness. The word exceeding is the Greek phrase huperbelo, meaning that it is overwhelming in magnitude. The greatness of God’s supernatural ability has been given to those who believe.

This overwhelming divine power, Paul explained, is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, defeating every Satanic opposition against Him. That supernatural power has now been given to the Church. As followers of Christ, we are not merely spectators of God’s power, but we are vessels of this supernatural ability called to walk in the same anointing that operated in Jesus.

When Jesus was raised from the dead, He triumphed over all the powers of Hell and established His authority above all dominions. As part of His body, we are connected to the Head—Jesus—and we have been granted access to His power and authority. We have the Holy Ghost like He has. We have the Word of God like He has. We have authority like He has! As we realize the immense power available to us, we are called to step into our God-given authority and exercise it by faith. In the same way Jesus fulfilled the role assigned to Him, we, too, are commissioned to manifest His fullness and bring Heaven here to earth.

Practical Application

Seek the Holy Spirit's guidance and learn to listen to His leading. Sometimes it will be a pull in your spirit, a Word, or even a reminder of what Scripture says. Learning how to hear and follow the Holy Spirit is key to unleashing the fullness of His power and authority.
