But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy. (Acts 2:14-18)
Peter made it clear in his message on Pentecost that we live in the last days. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit wasn’t just a moment; it marked a transformation in our power and responsibility. Now the church is empowered, on fire, and anointed to go into any area to effect change by bringing the Kingdom of God. Pentecost wasn’t the final climax; it was the starting point to launch us.
We are currently living in the dispensation of the Spirit. This is not an age devoid of power or hope. We exist in the most Spirit-saturated era in human history.
Acts 2 wasn’t just for a few in the upper room. Peter prophesied that the “sons and daughters” would prophesy and that “young men would see visions” and “old men would dream dreams.” Why was this important? He emphasized that the Holy Spirit is for everyone, regardless of age, race, background, or nationality. If you are alive and breathing, the Holy Spirit is for you.
There is no excuse for a dead church any longer. The Holy Spirit has been poured out, the last days are now, and you have been born for this time of power.
Practical Application
Expect more dreams, visions, and prophetic words as the end of the end days approaches. Step out boldly and invite the Holy Spirit into your everyday situations as He uses your words, eyes, and actions to change the atmosphere.
