The Name Above Every Name

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)
Because Jesus was obedient to God, even to dying on the cross, through the most brutal death possible, God highly exalted Him. It was not a little and not moderately. He was exalted to the highest possible position. And God gave Him an onoma, an authority, that surpasses every other authority that exists anywhere.
Every knee in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, will bow. Every tongue will confess. This includes college professors who denied His existence, demons that have terrorized families for generations and sicknesses that have defied medical explanation. Every one of them will bow to the name of Jesus.
It is not eventually or maybe. The authority has already been established. The Name has been given, and Christ’s position has been settled.
Now, here is what this means for you. You carry that name! When you were born again, you were brought into the family of the One who holds that name. You have been given the right to use it. Jesus said in John 14 that whatever you ask the Father in His name, He will do it. That is not a cliché. That is a legal instrument. You are operating with the power of attorney in the Kingdom.
The problem is that most believers use the name of Jesus like a punctuation mark at the end of a prayer rather than an authoritative declaration. The name of Jesus is not a closing signature. It is a weapon. Use it like one.
Practical Application
The next time you pray, slow down when you say the name of Jesus. Say it with power and conviction, knowing that every demon, every sickness, and every circumstance has to respond to that name. Use the name of Jesus with authority because authority is exactly what it carries.
