The Language of the Kingdom of God

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. (Matthew 13:19)

Every kingdom has a culture, and each culture has its own language. Rome spoke Greek, Israel spoke Hebrew and Aramaic. The Kingdom of Heaven also has its own language. And God's Kingdom words carry power, but they require spiritual understanding. When people are not listening to the Spirit, the enemy swoops in to steal the Word of the Kingdom before it takes root in their hearts.

Jesus explained to Nicodemus, "You must be born again," but Nicodemus misunderstood because he was only listening with his natural ears and intellect. Similarly, Mac and Windows don't share the same operating system, just as the Kingdom of God doesn't speak the language of fear and doubt in the world.

When you meet someone new to faith, and you tell them they need to be "born again," they might not fully understand. Words like "sanctified," "redeemed," or "saved" may make sense to longtime Christians, but they sound foreign to someone outside the faith.

The Spirit equips us to speak to others in a way that bridges the gap without watering down God's message. The Kingdom has its own language and learning that is a part of discipleship.

Practical Application

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you communicate with those around you in a way they can understand, so you can share the Gospel effectively. Expect open doors, opportunities, and words that will touch people's hearts and transform lives.

Matthew 13:38; Matthew 24:14
