For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. (Ephesians 5:23)

The husband is the head of the family, and Jesus is the Head of the church.

If Jesus is the Head, then when it comes to deciding what we do, where we are to move, what job we are to take or what assignment we should walk in, it should be Christ who makes those decisions for us. Too many Christians think only of what they want when it’s time to make major decisions in life. However, it’s not the job of the head to decide what the body does in the flesh; that’s the purpose of the Head.

Your body would die without a head attached properly. The head gives all the rest of the body functions and purposes. Your head may tell you, “It’s time to go to church.” But it won’t be able to do that without the feet moving, the hands opening doors, and many more parts of the body functioning correctly.

Our job as the body of Christ is to follow what the Head directs quickly and completely.

We have a responsibility to complete the ministry of Jesus on earth. As representatives of the Kingdom of God and as parts of the body of Christ, we function as vital members of the royal family, bringing Heaven’s way with us.

Practical Application

Ask the Lord to help you be more sensitive to His will and His way in situations. In daily opportunities, don’t look for the easy way out, or a simple solution. Go quickly to prayer and ask the Lord to direct you with His wisdom and revelation knowledge.

Ephesians 1:23; Colossians 1:18
