And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. (Daniel 6:20-22)

The gift of faith, listed with the spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12, differs from saving faith or healing faith. Every one of us has been given a measure of faith, by which we can believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and receive salvation and whatever we need from His Word, but when the gift of faith is operating, it is impossible for a person to doubt or worry. The working of miracles does supernatural acts by the Holy Ghost, but the gift of faith enables us to receive them. Daniel 6:20-22 is an example of the gift of faith. Daniel didn’t take authority over the lions or resist them, but he came out of that den alive and well because of the gift of faith, which allowed him to spend the night in perfect peace. Perhaps he also experienced the spiritual gift of discerning of spirits and was able to see the angel that kept the lions’ mouths shut, because he rested in peace.

My spiritual father shared a testimony about the gift of faith in his ministry. At one meeting, three women in wheelchairs were near the front. The Spirit of God came upon him, and he commanded one of the women to stand up. He said it was the gift of faith because he didn’t have natural faith for it, and had it been his faith, he would have called all three of them out of their wheelchairs. It wasn’t the woman’s faith either, because he said after she was healed, she told him, “I still can’t believe it!” She was healed by the gift of faith.

Practical Application

The best spiritual gift is the one you need at the moment. Trust God.
