The Enemy Attacked the Home

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (Genesis 3:16)
The enemy’s first attack came after the covenant and the structure that God had established over mankind. When sin entered, the enemy didn't just break the relationship with God; he aimed to break the bond between man and woman. In this passage, God was explaining to the woman the consequences of her disobedience. These weren't punishments He inflicted upon her; they were consequences she chose to face. They included pain in childbearing, a desire for her husband that would go unmet, and a dynamic in marriage that was never part of the original design. People often focus on one line and miss what God is truly revealing. The larger picture is that sin introduced tension into the one place meant to be the safest.
What was meant to be a refuge became a source of conflict. Before the fall of mankind, there was harmony in the different purposes God had given to man and woman. After the fall, there was struggle and power plays. That disconnect between men and women, the gender war happening on earth, was a result of a cursed system. The enemy knows that if he can poison the home, he can weaken a whole generation. If he can remove fathers, he can create confusion. If he can fracture husbands and wives, then he can cause instability in children. This is how things often happen in our world. But Christ came to reverse the curse. That doesn't mean every home suddenly becomes perfect because you follow Jesus. It means you now have anointing on your life to rebuild what sin has damaged. Ruling in the Kingdom is different from how most people see ruling in the world. Headship is not bullying. It is responsibility and protection. Jesus is the model for every man. He led by laying down His life for the church. So a man should lead like Christ—sacrificially, doing the hard things, and loving her unconditionally. If a woman is going to walk in the covenant, she walks in strength and honor toward her husband, knowing that his goal is to present her to Jesus without a spot or wrinkle.
Practical Application
Pray for your home and others’ homes today as well. Pray that each one finds their proper place and fulfills their God-given roles.
