And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. (Genesis 39:2-5)
Joseph’s story vividly illustrates that God’s prosperity in our lives is meant to transcend any circumstances we encounter. Despite being a slave, the Bible describes Joseph as a prosperous man—not because of his situation, but due to the unmistakable presence of God in his life. The Lord's involvement in Joseph's story ensured that everything he touched flourished. This wasn’t just a single area of blessing; it was a blanket blessing! It was a blessing in which God brought fruitfulness to every aspect of life.
Even Potiphar, a pagan Egyptian, recognized Joseph's exceptional qualities and saw that the Lord was behind Joseph’s success, causing everything he did to prosper. Furthermore, the blessing didn’t stop with Joseph; it extended to Potiphar's entire household. The "blanket blessing" of God's presence enveloped everything—his home, possessions, and fields.
When we carry God's presence with us, we impact every place He leads us. Walking in His favor means that those around us can also be blessed. Joseph's life shows that he was prosperous even as a slave. People will notice God's favor in your life; even those who don’t share your beliefs can acknowledge and be touched by it
