That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5:21)

The message of grace is incredibly powerful and beneficial when taught correctly. The problem is that it has not been taught correctly in most of the Body of Christ. Because believers have listened and adhered to wrong teaching, many have died prematurely and gotten into serious trouble. Don’t you know the Bible says that the devil’s purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy? Believers can’t expect to live in sin and still have the power of God working in their lives.
God’s grace empowers us to walk in righteousness. How do we do this? First John 1:7-9 gives us the answer: "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When we do sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and through Him, we can be forgiven and made clean. We can go to Him as our lawyer, and He will appeal to the Father with His Name, with His Authority, and the fact that His blood has been shed for us. The Father will receive it, wash away our sin, and treat us as though it never happened.
God wants us to walk in the light, confess our sins, and allow the blood of Jesus to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When we do this, we are walking in the righteousness that God has provided. We are no longer under the reign of sin, but under the reign of grace! We are called to walk in the fullness of His grace and experience the eternal life that He has promised us.
Practical Application
God wants grace to reign through righteousness in your life. Grace has almost two dozen meanings in the New Testament, and it is a gift of God. Grace is the power of God and the favor of God. Grace is also the Holy Spirit! Rejoice in God’s gift of grace and let it reign in your life.
