Now, Here We Are

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. (1 Corinthians 12:1)

The church is not a self-help club or a place where you hear motivational speeches. We are called to be the living, supernatural Church of the living God.  The Greek word translated as spiritual here is pneumatikos, meaning spiritual, things of the Spirit, and supernatural realities. The word gifts (charisma) isn’t in the original Greek—translators added it.Why? Because Paul later referred to specific gifts.

See, Paul wasn’t just saying, “Let me talk about spiritual gifts.” He was saying, “Let me talk to you about the entire supernatural realm of the Spirit.” That includes gifts, yes, but also callings, endowments, operations, manifestations, and qualifications. You don’t just “volunteer” to work at the church; you are qualified and equipped by the Holy Ghost.

When God calls a person, He equips them with supernatural power to accomplish the task.Paul said that he didn’t want the church to be ignorant. Ignorance isn’t just lack of knowledge—it’s the lack of access to your supernatural identity.

When the Church loses the teaching of the Spirit, the next generation will lose the experience of the Spirit. My Spiritual Father, who is now in heaven, used to say, “If these things are not taught, they will be lost to the next generation.”

And now here we are—where entire churches go years without a tongue given and interpreted, a prophetic word spoken, or any miracles manifested. We don’t need more stage lights and smoke machines; we need people willing to press in and be the light of the world.

Practical Application

You were not saved to sit, but you were filled with the Holy Spirit to be supernatural. Are you actively stirring up the gifts in your life? Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to opportunities to step out in faith and be used in supernatural power.

1 Corinthians 10:1; 1 Corinthians 14:37
